Frequently Asked Questions.

  • This is exactly what the 15 minute consultation call is for. In this call, I will ask about your presenting problem, symptoms, goals, and preferences and I will tell you how I think I can help. I will answer any questions you might have and let you know whether I think I’m the best fit for your needs. Schedule a consult to find out!

  • Unfortunately, this answer completely depends on each client’s specific needs, goals, history, and commitment to therapy.

But don’t despair! There are DBT skills that can provide immediate relief through changing your body chemistry and EMDR can change the distress you feel regarding certain thoughts or memories within one session.

This doesn’t mean you will be magically healed within one session. Humans are much more complex than that. Throughout your treatment, I will collaborate with you to review your goals and progress and assess if the current therapeutic work is meeting your needs.

The most important factor in your treatment is you and your commitment to changing your life.

  • No, my license does not allow me to prescribe medications or complete psych testing. I can diagnose and treat many mental health issues and provide established clients with referrals to trusted providers in the community for these services.

  • I dedicate a percentage of my caseload to sliding scale spots at a fee of $100, $120, or $130.

If you’d like to apply for sliding scale, please indicate this in your consult form and I will add you to the waitlist. I revisit the waitlist every 6 months or when a sliding scale spot opens up.

  • Once you’ve had the consultation and decided to schedule an initial session, we will e-mail you intake paperwork that will include a form for your credit/debit/HSA card information. When we have a card on file, your session is confirmed and that card will be charged automatically the morning of the session.

  • If you have a scheduled session, you will get a reminder through text or email 48 hours before. If you realize you can’t make the session, I’m happy to cancel but I ask that you give me 24-hours notice before your session. You can let me know through email, text, or voicemail.

If you cancel after that 24 hour period, you will be charged the full fee of the session. If I haven’t heard from you and you don’t show up to session, I will text you as a reminder and wait for a 10-min grace period after the start of your session. No shows are also charged full-fee.

  • This is completely normal and okay. I am just one person and I’m aware that I cannot be a perfect fit for everyone. You can cancel your appointments with me at any time.

However, like all relationships, conflict in a therapeutic relationship is normal and can provide moments of growth if you let me know and allow the chance to repair and resolve the conflict. If you still decide to terminate, I would love the chance to provide you with referrals to continue your healing journey.

  • EMDR can be intense because it requires you to remember difficult and distressing experiences from your life.

However, before any re-processing happens, the first step is always stabilization and resourcing. This means I will only go forward with re-processing if you have an adequate window of tolerance, proven access to healthy coping skills, stabilization exercises, and a solid self-care plan first. Don’t expect to do any EMDR in the first few weeks of treatment.

When we both decide you’re ready, the client is always in control of re-processing and will be able to stop at any point. If necessary, we can also discuss scheduling longer sessions to allow ample time for grounding after reprocessing.
